Namitha became popular after acting in the Tamil film Engal Anna with Vijayakanth. After being crowned Miss Surat in 1998, she participated in the Miss India contest in 2001.
She also won people's favourite award to win miss india world title.It brought Namitha roles in the Telugu film industry. After entering Tollywood, she immediately grabbed the attention of Telugu film lovers with Sontham and acted in Gemini as Bhairavi though the films didn’t fare well in the box office. Namitha. appeared in an English film named Maya directed by Eric Manning. She has also Tamil and Malayalam films to her credit. She is a Taurean, stands six foot (5'11) tall and weighs about 92 kilos (200 pounds). She may well become Indian movie industry's answer to Lucy Lawless (She is known to be quite fearless in real life too).
